Choosing Between Process Air & Radiant Infrared Heaters
Process air heaters are devices used to heat air while radiant infrared heaters operate by radiating heat towards a target. An air heater for an industrial application can heat large volumes of flowing air or gas to extreme temperatures. Typically featuring variable voltage sources and feedback temperature controls, an air process heater is a reliable, efficient solution for drying, heating, melting, chemical, and many other industry applications.
On the other hand, infrared radiant heaters can radiate heat over a particular zone at various temperatures. Easy to install and maintain, high-intensity radiant infrared heaters are used in medical, construction, automotive, mining, food, and numerous other processing applications.
Choosing between a high-temperature process air heater and an infrared radiant heater depends on your project. Here are some distinctions between the capabilities of Heatmax's industrial process air and radiant heaters:
Air Process Heater Solutions
Our standard process air heaters consist of Air Duct and Tubular Heaters. If you need to heat flowing air or gas with a high-temperature process heater, we can manufacture a product solution designed to meet the demands of your unique project. An air heater for an industrial application consists of:
- Voltage - Up to 600V (1 or 3 phase).
- Wattage - Customizable wattage or watt density within engineering limitations.
- Dimensions - We specialize in custom dimensions to fit into your operation.
- Duct Flange Materials - Steel and stainless steel.
- Element Sheath Material - Incoloy, stainless steel, and specialty high-temperature alloys.
- Terminals - Plain pin, flag, spade, and screw.
- And much more
Infrared Radiant Heater Solutions
Our collection of radiant infrared heaters features Infrared Radiant Panel, Infrared Radiant Extrusion Panel, and Glo-Quartz Tube Heaters. Our infrared radiant heaters consist of a wide variety of customizable features, specifications, and capabilities including:
- Voltage - Up to 600V (1 or 3 phase).
- Wattage - Customizable wattage or watt density within engineering limitations.
- Dimensions and element configuration - We specialize in custom dimensions to fit into your operation. See our product pages for specific capabilities.
- Reflectors - Highly polished stainless steel.
- Quartz Tube Length, Diameter & Terminals
Each element of a quality process air heater or radiant infrared heater can be customized according to your particular specifications and requirements.

Almost 70 Years
HeatMax History
Founded in 1952 by former Naval Engineer George Strokes, we began our history called Glo-Quartz®. At the time our business was focused on the manufacture of quartz sheath infrared heaters for curing and drying.
Since then we have added roll-reduced metal heating element products to our capabilities, allowing us to manufacture industrial air duct heaters and tubular air heaters for heating air and gas.
To better reflect our wide range of electric immersion heaters, we launched our new brand name, Heatmax Heaters, in 2020.
We still manufacture our own electric tubular elements from scratch. This allows us to guarantee the materials and workmanship that goes into a quality product, to customize our heaters to meet your exact heat output needs, and to do all of this in a shorter lead time than our competitors who purchase low-cost tubular elements from overseas.
