L SERIES: L-SHAPED METAL IMMERSION HEATERS

  • The L-shaped design is ideal for tanks with shallow or fluctuating liquid levels
  • By putting the heat at the bottom of the tank ensures more uniform heat distribution.
  • Sludge legs keep elements above sediment.
  • All wetted surfaces either stainless steel or titanium.
  • UL/CSA-listed with built-in thermal protection for peace of mind.

The Best Design for Heating Tanks with Low Liquid Levels

The L Series are metal “L-shaped” immersion heaters designed for the metal finishing industry. These heaters are optimal for tanks that have variable or low liquid levels, or just need to inject a lot of heat into a shallow tank.

Terminal enclosure
Our L-shaped immersion heaters are equipped with a robust vapor-resistant and flame-retardant polypropylene terminal enclosure, safeguarding the internal components of the heater from potential hazards. Every heater comes standard with four feet of lead wire and three feet of liquid-tight conduit. Longer lengths are also available.

Optimal heat distribution
By directing heat closer to the bottom of the tank, these heaters maintain consistent temperatures throughout the tank, ensuring uniform heating and minimizing any temperature stratification that might occur.

Sludge legs
The 2” sludge leg design preserves the heater’s efficiency by keeping the elements clear of any sludge build-up at the bottom of the tank.

  • Element sheath material
Choose from high-quality materials, including 304 or 316 Stainless Steel, Incoloy® 800, and Titanium, for durability, corrosion resistance, and compatibility with different conditions.

  • Element numbers
The L Series immersion heaters are available in either 3-, 6-, 9-, or 12-element configurations, ideal for heating tanks both large and small. The 12-element configuration is one of the largest in the industry, saving customers from using multiple smaller heaters.

  • Vertical riser heights
Heatmax’s L-shaped heaters feature customizable vertical riser heights, providing flexibility to adjust for precise adaptation to varying liquid levels or installation constraints. A right-angle, or “gooseneck” extension, to the terminal enclosure keeps it out of the path of any corrosive vapors.

  • Voltage
With a wide voltage range from 120 to 600 Volts, the L Series adapts to various power supply configurations and operational needs.

  • Wattage & watt densities
Our L-shaped heaters come with a standard watt density of 35 watts per square inch, offering a balance between space efficiency and heater lifespan. For applications requiring a lower watt density to accommodate more aggressive chemicals or delicate heating processes, our L Series offers a derated watt density option of 18 watts per square inch in the derated DL Series.

Element Configurations
Available in 3, 6, 9 and 12 element configurations so you can fit the maximum wattage you need in the space available. Element lengths customizable to fit in the space available.

L-Vertical PTFE Heaters

Metal L-Shaped immersion heaters are commonly used in open-top tanks and process baths where parts are dipped for cleaning, coating, or chemical treatment. Their rugged construction and corrosion-resistant materials make them ideal for demanding industrial environments. Common Industries Served:

  • Metal Finishing & Plating
aqueous alkaline solutions, plating, electroless nickel and phosphate tanks.
  • General Industrial
Provide reliable heat for caustics, detergents, and custom chemical solutions used across manufacturing processes.
  • Replaceable T1: Suitable for solutions with temperatures up to 180°F (82°C)
  • Replaceable T4: For solutions with temperatures between 180 to 230°F (82 to 110°C)
  • Replaceable T5: For solutions from 230 to 300°F (Not UL-Listed)
